ACQUITTAL OF 3 KASHMIRIS | Bar welcomes Rajasthan HC judgment

J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar Thursday expressed satisfaction over the acquittal of three Kashmiris by the Rajasthan High Court.

The Bar in a statement said that earlier the trio aftertheir acquittal by Delhi High Court “had been re-arrested and shifted to JaipurJail, where they were shown involved in a case registered by police with regardto Mahuva blast of 1996.”

   

“The Bar feels that the acquittal of the three Kashmiris byDelhi and Rajasthan High Courts amply proves that innocent Kashmiris have beenhounded by the police all over India and implicated in false and frivolouscases.

“When (finally) they are honorably acquitted, no action istaken against those responsible for ruining their life and even no compensationis paid to them for making them to serve illegal and unwarrantedincarceration.”

The statement said the Bar expects that taking cue from thejudgment of the Rajasthan High Court, “all those Kashmiris, who are languishingin jails without trial and/or whose trial is deliberately protracted for makingtheir release impossible are given a fair deal and not only their cases arefast-tracked but justice is given to them.”

It may be mentioned that Rajasthan High Court acquittedthree residents of Srinagar booked in Lajpat Nagar and Samleti bomb blast caseswhich took place in 1996.

The acquitted people were identified as Lateef Ahmad Waza,Mirza Nisar Hussain and Ali Muhammad Bhatt, all residents of Srinagar city.
