Admin not allowing us to meet party president: PDP

Peoples Democratic Party on Monday said that Jammu and Kashmir administration was not allowing its leaders to meet party president Mehbooba Mufti.

In a statement, a PDP spokesman said the party leaders held a meeting here and discussed the continuous detention of party president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

   

Terming the continuous detention of Mehbooba as”undemocratic,” the leaders took at dig at the administration for not allowingthem to meet her despite repeated requests, the statement said.

“On December 10, they (PDP leaders) made a representation toDeputy Commissioner Srinagar requesting him to allow them to meet her. However,till date no reply has come,” it said.

The PDP leaders, according to the statement, described theattitude of administration as unsatisfactory. “If leaders are not allowed tomeet Mehbooba Mufti they will approach the court,” it added.

“Detention of PDP president is undemocratic, illegal andunethical,” the statement quoted the leaders.

The PDP leaders demanded her immediate release and said that government has no reason to prolong her detention. “Democratic institutions have been demolished in J&K,” the leaders added.

The meeting, according to the statement, was presided over by Abdul Hamid Koseen, secretary PDP, and was attended by scores of leaders including Nazir Ahmad Khan, Muntazir Mohuidin, Arif Laigaroo, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Abdul Qayoom Bhat, Muhammad Maqbool Lolabi, Muhammad Shafi, Toufiq Shah and others.
