Advisor Kumar for properly utilising Mughal Road as alternate link

Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today said the Mughal Road, which connects Kashmir with Jammu, should be fully utilized as an alternate road.

He said wayside amenities also need to be created on theroad for convenience of commuters. He stressed for promoting eco-tourismactivities to attract tourists to visit the beautiful place.

   

The advisor made these remarks while chairing a meeting withofficers of forest department and Mughal Road authorities.

While discussing the need of promoting the Mughal Road areahaving great potential of eco-tourism activities, the advisor asked the forestdepartment to come up with a workable action plan, in collaboration withtourism department, at the earliest.

The advisor stressed for developing wayside amenities on theRoad including separate toilets (bio-degradable) for male and female commutersand refreshment points along the road especially at Peer Ki Gali.

He asked for creating temporary structures which should bewind proof and would sustain in the prevailing weather conditions.

Various other important issues relating to development ofthe Road as a regular alternate road, connecting both the regions were alsodiscussed in detail.

Keeping in view the regular incidents of landslidesresulting blockage of National Highway, the road must be utilised properly butthat needs coordination from all the involved departments, the advisor said.
