Advisor to Lt Governor, KK Sharma Sunday directed Industries Department to ensure that the industrial units engaged in production of essential commodities like food items and medicines, follow the prescribed safety protocols to counter spread of COVID-19.
The Advisor was reviewing safety measures being put in placeby the individual industrial units for the safety of the workers in consonancewith the protocol already in vogue.
The Industries department was monitoring and providing therequisite logistic support to units engaged in production of essentialcommodities, which have resumed operations during last fortnight in consonancewith the circular issued by the Union government.
The Advisor said itneeds to be ensured that each industrial worker, including security andadministrative employees at unit sites were wearing a mask while inside theunit at work, outside and during commuting from place of stay to factory site.
He directed the officers to ensure that owners were asked toprovide masks compulsorily to workers. Cloth (stitched) masks can be used, aswell, which were being made by JK Handlooms Corporation, JK KVIB and can besourced by the industrial units, he said.
