Centre defines new domicile rules for J&K

Several monthsafter Government of India announced abrogation of Article 370, it has now putout rules for domicile rights for rest of its citizens in the Union Territoryof Jammu and Kashmir.

The domicile rulescomes after abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, which gave specialstatus to the residents of the erstwhile J&K state.

   

As per an officialgazette issued , a person who has resided in Jammu and Kashmir for a period of15 years or has studied for a period of seven years  and appeared in Class10th and 12th examination  in a school within the region shall be deemedto be the domiciles of Jammu and Kashmir now on. 

It also includesthe children of the central government officials, who have served in Jammuand Kashmir for a period of ten years.
