AIIMS PG Exam: No test centre set up in Kashmir, students seek governor’s intervention

Amid hue and cry for ignoring Kashmir in allotment of centres, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has allotted exam centres for Kashmiri aspirants outside valley.

The move has evoked resentment from the aspirants who haveurged the authorities to shift their exam centres to Kashmir.

   

All India Institute of Medical Sciences is the examconducting body of AIIMS PG 2019 entrance examination. The exam is scheduled tobe conducted on May 05, aggrieved aspirants said.

Greater Kashmir received distress emails from AIIMS PG examaspirants who complained that they won’t be in a position to travel to Jammufor appearing in the exams.

“We have been allotted exam centres only in Jammu and not inKashmir. We request the governor administration to intervene and shift ourcentres to Valley,” said Hamza, an aspirant.

The aspirants said travelling out of valley to appear inexams was a mental torture for them and disturbs their last minute preparationsas well.

“In the given circumstances of weather conditions, we cannotrely on travelling via Jammu-Srinagar highway. Besides, the air prices areunaffordable for us,” he said.

The aggrieved aspirants have appealed to the governor administrationto take up the matter with authorities in AIIMS as early as possible.

Earlier, National Testing Agency (NTA) – the exam conductingbody for NEET Undergraduate exams – had allotted exam centres of around 3500students outside Valley and in other states. The move evoked resentment fromaspirants which prompted the NTA to allot four additional exam centres inKashmir.
