Amarnath Yatra -2019|NDMA conducts mock drill at Baltal, Pahalgam

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) today conducted a mock drill at Baltal Base camp in a bid to enhance and assess the preparedness for disaster management among government officials involved in management of the annual Amarnath i Yatra, an official spokesman said.

 He said that thedrill was conducted in presence of members from the NDMA, SDRF, DistrictPolice, Health Department, Fire and Emergency Service, and specialists to checkthe preparedness for the ensuing Amarnath Yatra. Worst case scenarios in natural disasters were given to the quickresponse teams to gauge their preparedness.

   

Speaking on the occasion, Major General V K Naik said thatthe exercise is aimed at enhancing preparedness for disaster management amongthe functionaries of SASB and officials of the various government departmentsand agencies involved in the management of the forthcoming  Amarnath pilgrimage, scheduled to commence onJuly 1.  

A detailed review of the drills was carried out at a meetinglater on by Major General, V K Naik to assess the preparedness and responsemechanism of all the stakeholders involved in the management of the upcomingAmarnath Yatra.

SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, ADDC Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal,SSP Yatra Officer, SSP JPCR, ADC Ganderbal, Camp Director besides other officials from all the important departmentssuch as  SASB, NDRF, SDRF,  Rashtriya Rifles,  CRPF, Army, police, health, Civil Defense,transport, fire and other emergency services attended the meeting andparticipated in the mock exercises.

MOCK DRILL HELD AT PAHALGAM

Meanwhile, another mock drill drill was held at Pahalgamtoday, in presence of camp Director Nunwan Base camp, CEO,PDA, Pahalgam,Tehsildar Pahalgam, Engineers  andOfficers of PDD, PHE, I&FC Anantnag Circle, ARTO Anantnag, Assistant LabourCommissioner Anantnag SDPO Aishmugam, SHO and Tehsildar Pahalgam and other seniorofficers of Police, Army CRPF, NDRF SDRF, and other officers.

On the occasion, National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA) Consultant Retd. Brigadier Kuldeep Singh said officers conducted mockdrill at Base camp Nunwan and Bus Ada Pahalgam for the smooth and successfulconduct of Yatra 2019. He highlighted the challenges during the Yatra and theways to deal with exigencies.
