Jammu and Kashmir Government Friday exempted vehicles carrying eatables and other materials used in langars and bhandaras for Amaranath Yath, from toll tax.
A notification issued by Finance Department reads, “Inexercise of powers conferred by section 5 of Jammu and Kashmir Levy of TollsAct, the government hereby exempts from payment of levy of toll leviable underthe said Act to import of eatable materials and other items being used inLangars and Bhandaras to be set up by the NGOs for providing free food to theYatris during Amarnath Yatra-2019.”The exemption will be subject to the conditionthat the Chief Executive Officer, Amarnath Shrine Board certifies that theLangars and Bhandaras are being set up by the NGOs with his prior permission,the order states.
