Amid heightened tension, LoC trade on

Despite heightened tension following a suicide attack on CRPF on Srinagar- Jammu highway at Lethpora on Thursday, the trade between the divided parts of Kashmir remained unaffected on Friday.

Seventy trucks, 35 each from Pakistan administered Kashmir and this side, crossed at Kaman post in Uri area of Baramulla district on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, 53 trucks loaded with goods were exchanged between Indian and Pakistani authorities via Chakan Da Bagh LoC crossing point in Poonch district.

Officials said that 35 goods laden trucks were sent to the other side and 18 were received on this side at Chakan Da Bagh trade felicitation center of Poonch district.

“Trade continued smoothly and we exchanged 53 trucks which include 35 sent from our side,” said custodian trade felicitation center Poonch, Fareed Kohli.

He added that cross LoC bus service would move Monday as per the schedule.

It’s in place to mention here that suicide attack, in which more than 40 CRPF soldiers were killed, has evoked strong resentment across India which withdrew Most Favoured Nation status from Pakistan.
