Former advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Professor of Disarmament Studies at the Centre for International Politics, Organization and Disarmament at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University, Prof Amitabh Mattoo Saturday interacted with the faculty members and officials of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) at Green Campus here.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir, university officers, deans of schools, faculty members, and scholars participated in the interaction.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mattoo recalled about his childhood memories and growing years in Kashmir and described them as extraordinarily pleasant. He lauded the egalitarian way of life in Kashmir in early 1960s. He said that there is absolutely no negative memory impressed on his mind as far as growing up in Kashmir is concerned. He said that Kashmir taught him the value of cultural harmony among different communities, adding that Kashmiris had a very simple lifestyle.
Prof Mattoo said that excellence in any field does not recognize competition, adding that hard work helps to scale heights, and achieve targets, even if the road is difficult. “From Srinagar to Silicon valley, excellence has takers.”
