Anantnag hospital takes samples of 11 persons

In the past two weeks the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has taken samples of 11 probable COVID19 patients for testing.

An official said six persons have tested negative forinfection while the reports of five more was awaited.

   

The first patient, a woman from Qazigund area with travelhistory to Saudi Arabia was admitted in the Isolation Ward on March 13.

She tested negative for the infection later.

Barely, two days later another elderly woman from the samearea reported at the hospital with symptoms. A doctor said she had concealedher travel history to Saudi Arabia.

The patient was treated in the Emergency of the hospital fora night, but was later shifted to SKIMS, when the doctors came to know abouther travel history.

She too tested negative for the infection, much to therelief of doctors and paramedics and patients who had come in contact with herat the hospital.

The two women have successfully completed their quarantineperiod, said a doctor.

As the number of positive cases kept on swelling acrossKashmir, samples of nine more patients, either with travel history or flu-likesymptoms, were sent to SKIMS for testing.

“The reports of six of these patients with travel history orsymptoms have come negative,” said Medical superintendent GMC, Dr MajeedMehrab.

He said the reports of five more patients were awaited. “Allof them are under observation of doctors at the quarantine centers,” the MSsaid.
