ANMT students protest shortage of teaching staff

Scores of students of the Ancillary Medical Training Institute (ANMT) Bandipora protested on Monday against the shortage of staff at their institute.

They blocked Bandipora-Srinagar road, which lead to a massive traffic jam for several hours in the area.

“From two years we have been appealing concerned authorities to provide us teaching staff but to no avail which forced us to come on roads,” said Imran, a protesting student.

The ANMT Bandipora was established in January last year with over 100 students on its rolls.

The protesting students said a lone teacher has been running the institute.

“The authorities are playing with our careers as there is no teacher for around 80 students, who have been enrolled for two different paramedical courses. Our principal visits the school just once in a month,” the protesters said.

Deputy commissioner Bandipora Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said teaching staff would be soon deployed at the institute.
