Apni Party celebrates 1st Foundation Day, functions held across Kashmir, Jammu

Celebrating its first foundation day across Jammu and Kashmir, Apni Party Monday resolved to fight for the restoration of statehood of J&K.

In the function held at party’s Srinagar office, Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari addressed the gathering.

Besides celebrating its first anniversary in Srinagar, Apni Party convened similar functions at all the district headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing media-persons at the party’s Srinagar office, Bukhari highlighted the issues raised and pursued by the party leadership during the last one year.

On this occasion, Bukhari launched the Apni Party’s website jkapniparty.com.

Felicitating the people on International Women’s Day which coincides with the foundation day of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, Bukhari expressed deep disappointment over the plight of a large section of women in the society.

He appealed people to give proper respect, dignity and ensure that the women get their rights exercised in letter and spirit.

Bukhari said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve to enjoy equal rights like their fellow citizens in the country.

“The Government of India should not waste any more time to reciprocate to the unaddressed yearning of people of J&K who want peace, progress and prosperity in this region,” he said.

The party leadership both from Kashmir and Jammu provinces addressed the conventions held at various district headquarters wherein they reiterated party’s commitment to the socio-economic and political empowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In Jammu, the party’s first foundation day as well as International Women’s Day function was organised at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust.

Addressing the gathering, APni Party senior vice president Ghulam Hassan Mir said, “J&K has been disempowered with the snatching of statehood from the people of erstwhile state which has a long history. It was unfortunate. We do not support the downgrading of J&K to a union territory. Apni Party has never accepted it.”

He said as there was a coincidence between the party’s foundation day and International Women’s Day, the party was bound for the empowerment of women and Apni Party President had said that the party supports that there should be women reservation in assembly and parliament.

Appreciating the new industrial policy, Mir said that the government should ensure 90 percent reservation of locals in skills and unskilled jobs.

He expressed concern over the inflation of essential commodities, petrol, diesel, and cooking gas and demanded that taxes should be reduced so that the increased prices of essential commodities drop.

Apni Party vice president Ajaz Ahmed Khan said that the party was against the divisive forces and wanted the two regions should not suffer.

“The politics of emotional blackmailing has ended. We believe in politics of truthfulness,” Khan said.

Apni Party General Secretary Vijay Bakaya said that the party had achieved a milestone with the support of ground leaders and workers and won the trust of the people, especially the youth.
