Army celebrate Yoga Day across Kashmir

‘Yoga’, the embodiment of ‘unity’ and ‘harmony’, was all palpable in the air as Army joined the people of Kashmir at various places to celebrate the fifth International Yoga Day on Friday, an Army spokesman said in a statement.

 He said “the day wascelebrated with befitting zeal and vigour at various Army camps and ArmyGoodwill Schools across the Valley, where the Army personnel along with thepeople and children performed a series of Yoga exercises. The importance ofdiscipline and harmony between mind and body was reinforced to all theparticipants who were unanimous in acknowledging the benefits of Yoga, a giftof India to the world.”

   

“At BB Cantt, Srinagar, a Yoga session was organised whereina Yoga teacher explained the benefits of Yoga to the gathering. Similarly, theday was celebrated in various Army camps all across the Valley, along the Lineof Control and hinterland where the soldiers joined the Awaam in an expressionof not only the desire to live a healthy life but also of mutual respect,regard and bonhomie,” the spokesman added.

“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. Itembodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; Restraint and fulfillment;harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well being.It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself,the world and nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, itcan help in the overall well being of humans,” the spokesman said.
