Army commissions micro solar power grid at Boniyar village

Army and a Pune-based foundation commissioned a 1-KVA Micro Solar Grid at Gaggar Hill in Boniyar village on Sunday.

A statement of the Army issued here said that the power plant is equipped with power limiter and bifacial half-cut modules.

   

It said that understanding the issues and challenges faced by the locals in these far-flung areas, Army facilitated the identification of most needy village and coordinated with Pune-based ASEEM foundation that provided the system and deployed it on the ground with its technical team.

“The pilot project is a huge leap towards greater reliance on renewable energy and will mitigate the deprivations in regular power supply due to frequent cuts and vagaries of weather and also reduce the carbon footprint to some extent,” the Army statement said.

It said that the project was dedicated to the village by Commander Pir Panjal Brigade and officials of Aseem Foundation at a function in presence of the officials of the Department of Rural Development, BDO Boniyar and BDC members.
