Army pays tributes to Major Somnath Sharma

Army on Saturday organised wreath   laying ceremonies in the honour of one of the most gallant soldier of the Indian Army, Major Somnath Sharma, an Army spokesman said.

He said, “The ceremony was organised at Major Somnath Sharma Memorial located at the New Airport and at Badgam War Memorial.”

   

Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, laid wreath at the Budgam War Memorial and Brigadier SR Sharma, Commandant, JAK LI Regimental Centre laid the wreath on behalf of Chinar Corps at Major Somnath Sharma Memorial as a mark of their respect for him. 

Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen AK Bhatt said, “The supreme sacrifice of Major Somnath Sharma set an example of courage and leadership qualities that has guided the Indian Army since independence and will continue to do so in all times to come. He was the saviour of Kashmir. Besides officers and men of the Army, representatives from the CRPF, BSF, JKP, civil administration and Airport Authorities also laid the wreaths and attended the event to pay their homage to the late soldier.”
