Army porter killed on LoC in Akhnoor

An Army porter was killed in a ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control in Jammu district, news agency IANS reported on Friday.

“An army porter identified as Deepak Kumar was killed in sniper fire from Pakistan side. Our troops have retaliated strongly”, the agency quoted a defence source as saying.

   

FIRING ON LOC IN KUPWARA

The armies of India and Pakistan Friday exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district, the police said.

A police official said that Pakistani troops “targeted” Indian army posts at Sadpora, Dhani, Amrui, Chatkadi areas in Tangdhar.

He said this is the second time in two months when ceasefire violation took place in the same area.

However, there were no immediate reports of any casualties on the either side.

Last month, Pakistani troops had allegedly targeted 20 Jatt LP post in Tangdhar and Balbir post in Keran area.

On 29 September this year, ceasefire violations were reported in Amrui, Sadpura, Dhani and Chatkadi areas along the LoC in Tangdhar.

BSF MAN INJURED IN RAJOURI

Pakistani troops fired at Indian posts along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, injuring a BSF soldier, news agency PTI quoted officials saying on Friday.

Pakistani personnel targeted forward posts along the LoC in the Manajakote area at around 9.30 am. A soldier of the BSF was injured in the firing, they said. “The number of ceasefire violations this year by Pakistan has been the highest in the past eight years.”
