Army rescues two truckers stranded at Zojila Pass after heavy snowfall

Two drivers whose trucks were half buried in snow near Zojila pass on Srinagar-Leh highway were rescued by a rescue unit of the army, officials said today.

Army’s High altitude of warfare school (HAWS) snow skiing expert wing rescued the drivers from Zojila pass who were stranded due to inclement weather and snowfall since Thursday.

   

An official said that a special joint rescue operation of army’s HAWS unit and air force evacuated two truck drivers identified as Shamsher Singh son of Karnail Singh a resident of Udhampur (JK0AJ-6732) and Ajit Singh (JK02AJ-5185) stranded at India Gate since Thursday.

He said the duo was taken to Meenmarg where they were accommodated by the district administration and provided all required assistance.
