Army undertakes rescue operation in Gurez

A pregnant women in dire need of medical attention was Thursday airlifted in an army chopper from Dawar Gurez near Line of Control (LOC) in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The Gurez Valley is cut off from the rest of the KashmirValley in winters due to high snow levels at Razdan Pass.

   

As per reports Zytoona Begum, a resident of Satni Villagelocated close to LOC was struck at Dawar Gurez hospital for want of specialisedtreatment which the hospital lacked.

The patient as per reports was low on haemoglobin anddoctors had advised surgery which could not be conducted at Dawar hospital.

Following a request from the local administration, soldiersof Snow Leopard Brigade activated the Gurez Helipad and the woman wasairlifted. The woman is at present undergoing treatment at Lal Ded HospitalSrinagar.
