Around 60k security personnel deployed on Amarnath Yatra routes

Around 60,000 security personnel have been deployed on the routes of Amarnath Yatra, which commenced on July 1, a statement said Friday.

“This year, no stone has been left unturned by the Army’s 1RR battalion and Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure clear and secure passagefor Yatris, especially through the sensitive Anantnag town,” the statementsaid, adding that a detailed plan is in place on the Pahalgam as well as theBaltal route.

   

 “Stringent securityarrangements have been put in place for smooth conduct of the annualpilgrimage. A robust security cover has been put in place, which includessatellite and chip-based tracking of vehicles and deployment of forces invarious layers,” it said. Special quick reaction teams of the Army and the CRPFare securing the highway and closed circuit cameras have been installed alongthe highway and at sensitive locations along the routes, it added.

Pertinently, the ongoing 46-day Yatra, which will concludeon August 15, has already witnessed thousands of pilgrims paying obeisance atthe cave shrine in southern Himalayas.
