Artisans awareness camps organised at Srinagar, Baramulla, Ganderbal

Department of Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir today organised mega awareness camps at Srinagar, Baramulla and Ganderbal.

The main thrust in the camps was on spot registration of the potential artisans at their doorsteps. The participants in the camps were informed about the schemes with special focus on credit card scheme for individual artisans, financial support for Industrial Cooperatives, state award scheme and about the schemes with regard to the marketing of their products.

   

The Chief Designer School of Designs also deputed the technical staff of SOD Srinagar to the camps for sharing the knowledge about the latest trends, designs and various other parameters.

In Srinagar, district camps were organised at Saida Kadal and another at craft concentrated area of Safakadal in which large number of weavers and artisans of the district Srinagar attended. The resource persons from KVIB, Weavers service centre, RSETI, various bank managers apprised the weavers and artisans regarding various schemes. The Joint  Director Handicrafts & Handloom Nargis Surya gave a detailed brief about the achievements the department and threw light on various schemes that have been implemented for benefit of the artisans and weavers.

The speakers in all camps encouraged the target groups to enroll in the craft training programmes of the department so as to generate employment opportunities for themselves.
