ARTO Budgam files police complaint against erring drivers

Assistant Regional Transport Officer Budgam has filed a written complaint with the Station House Officer Budgam to file an FIR against the owners/drivers of two buses for endangering lives of the commuters.

“Our checking squad on 3 July 2019 found two overloadedbuses. Officers brought down the passengers who were sitting on the rooftop ofthese buses following which drivers started misbehaving with them. We usuallycompound them as per MV Act S 66/192 (a) or suspend their route permits ordriving licenses. But the transporters have failed to mend their ways,” readsthe complaint filed by the ARTO.  

   

 “Despite circularsand advisories such reluctant drivers do not give up overloading for theirpersonal benefits. Overloading of passengers has become a routine mostly duringmorning and evening hours . We request you to lodge an FIR as per IPC Section336-Act endangering  life against thedrivesr/owners of the vehicles so that any accident is prevented,” the letteradds, a copy of which is with Greater Kashmir.
