Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Sunday laid the foundation stones of two Government Degree Colleges at Hajin and Ajas, in presence of District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza.
Various senior officers and a large number of people from all walks of life from Bandipora were present on the occasion.
Samoon congratulated the people of Hajin and Ajas for getting their long pending demand fulfilled and hoped that the college will cater to the needs of higher education of inhabitants of the villages.
He said these colleges will make higher education more accessible and affordable to people of the concerned areas.
At Hajin, he said Bandipora has been known for producing famous educationists, intellectuals, poets and scholars and the college will help in continuing the legacy by providing a platform to the budding scholars. He suggested to name Hajin college as Professor Mohiuddin Hajni College to remember the son of the soil and his contribution.
