At least 20 civilians injured in clashes near gunfight site in Shopian

At least twenty youth were injured during clashes with the government forces in Kundalan village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.

Reports said that youth took to streets and hurled rocks at the forces deployed in the village following a gunfight. The forces responded by firing live ammunition, pellets and tear gas to chase away the protesters.

   

A source at District Hospital Shopian said that four injured were brought to the facility. “One of them had a bullet injury in his leg. He was referred to Bone and Joints Hospital Barzulla while the three others were referred to SMHS hospital for specialized treatment,” he said.

A police official said that at least twenty youth were injured during the clashes. They have been shifted to various hospitals for treatment.

Meanwhile, the exchange of fire between the militants and the forces is on between the militants and the forces.
