Bandipora girl, 7, wins gold in Kickboxing in Italy

Tajamul Islam, a student of second grade at Army Goodwill School, Bandipora, bagged gold in final match of World Sub Junior Kickboxing Championship held at Andriana, Italy on 9 November.

A seven-year-old girl from north Kashmir has scripted history by winning the gold medal in a kickboxing championship in Italy.

"The child prodigy won five bouts continuously to meet her American opponent in the final bout.  After beating her American opponent who was a couple of years older to her she grabbed the much awaited gold medal for the country, thereby proving her mettle in the world championship," said an army spokesman in Srinagar today.

 

The championship was organised by the Italian Kickboxing Federation.  

 

Tajamul contested in the age group of 6 to 8 years and weight category under 30 kg. 

 

The team of Kickboxing Federation of India is likely to return on 14 November 2016 at Indira Gandhi Internation Airport, Delhi.
