Locals of Bandipora have alleged that water from the Kishanganga hydroelectric project dam was leaking as the Hindustan Construction Company, which is executing the 330 MW plant, tested the dam and water tunnel last evening.
The project involves construction of a 37 mts dam and an underground powerhouse.
Deputy commissioner Bandipora, Sajad Hussain Ganaie, said there was no need to panic. “The matter will be solved within days. We are hiring experts for this.”
When contacted, general manager NHPC, Amresh Kumar, said, “We will solve this problem within days. We are monitoring the situation.”
However, he appealed the people not to worry as there is no threat.
