Bandipora villagers protest lack of basic amenities

The residents of Saderkoot Payeen village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday held a protest demonstration against public health engineering department for failing to provide water supply to the area.

The residents including women blocked Bandipora-Srinagar road to protest unavailability of water from last three days.

   

“For last three days the area is facing water shortage but the authorities are unmoved, forcing us to come out on roads. We have to suffer a lot due to the shortage of drinking water in the area,” said a protestor Ashiq Ahmad.

The protestors said that despite repeated pleas to the concerned authorities from last three days the water supply was yet to be restored.

Meanwhile, the residents of Sumlar village held a protest demonstration against the district administration for failing to macadamize main Bandipora-Sumlar road over the years.

The residents blocked Bandipora-Sumlar road and raised slogans against the administration.

“The road is in a dilapidated condition from last five years as the authorities have failed to maintain the road. Due to the dilapidated condition of the road, we have to suffer immensely on daily basis,” said a protestor, Mushtaq Ahmad.
