‘Baramulla police district made free of militants’

With the killing of three Lashkar militants on Wednesday, “Baramulla police district has been made free of militants,” the police today said.

“Following the killing of three local militants, Baramulla has become first police district of Kashmir with no surviving militant as on date. J&K Police extends its thanks to the local population for all their support in providing a better security environment in the district,” the police in a handout said. 

   

The police officials here claimed that it was their sustained effort to keep youths away from the militancy and “it is our hard effort that the police district Baramulla has been declared free from militants as on this date”. 

Sharing details, senior superintendent of police Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain, said that “continuous monitoring and parents’ support have made it possible to prevent lot of youths from joining militancy.”    

“For the last one year, we have managed to prevent around 25 youths from joining militancy. We could not have done it without the cooperation of their parents. 

“Keeping an eye on the vulnerable youths is a continuous process and as of now we have been successful in ensuring that the youth don’t venture into militancy in the police district Baramulla,” the SSP said.
