In compliance of High Court orders, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla has ordered immediate removal of female species of Russian poplars across the district.
The officers including ADCs, ACR, SDMs, Tehsildars and BFO,Social Forestry, have been directed to ensure compliance of the High Courtdirections in letter and spirit.
Nodal officers have also been appointed for their respectivejurisdictions in this matter, an official handout said.
The ADC Sopore has been appointed as Nodal Officer forTehsil Sopore, Rafiabad, Zaingeer, Bomai, Dangerpora, Watergam, Dangiwacha,Khoie and Rohama.
The ACR Baramulla has been appointed for Tehsil Baramulla,Wagoora, Kreeri and Narwah, the SDM Uri for Tehsil Uri and Boniyar, the SDMGulmarg for Tangmarg, Kunzer and Kaurhama Tehsils, while as the SDM Pattan hasbeen appointed as Nodal Officer for Pattan and Singpora Tehsils.
The Nodal Officers have been asked to ensure felling/cuttingof female Russian Popular trees through designated committees comprising ofofficials of Revenue, Social Forestry, R&B and Irrigation and Flood ControlDepartment. They shall submit their action report twice every week viz.Wednesday and Saturday.
SSPs of Baramulla and Sopore have also been asked to passappropriate instructions to concerned SHO’s to provide adequate policeprotection to the concerned during the removal of female Russian Popular treesin the district whenever required.
