Baramulla votes for basic amenities

Most of the voters in the three vacant wards of the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) by-polls in old town Baramulla, Sunday said that they voted for basic amenities.

They said that the district administration as well as the Municipal Council Baramulla had neglected the town.

   

At old town Baramulla, a voter Abdul Hamid said that he had voted after the candidates in fray promised that they would work for providing basic amenities to the people of old town Baramulla.

Faisal Ahmad, a young voter after casting his vote said in the civil lines area, the old town Baramulla had remained far away from development.

“The authorities have failed to de-congest the old town. The roads have not been widened and create problems during emergency situations,” he said.

The voters here said that if the victorious ULB candidates want to something for the area they can start by providing good sanitation, improving condition of lanes and by-lanes of Baramulla town.

“Sanitation is a big issue. We are optimistic that the elected candidate will show some respect to the voters and will work in this direction,” said Bashir Ahmad, a local.
