Be people-friendly but tough against criminals: DGP tells cops

Highlighting the importance of technology and crime detection, Director General Police Dilbag Singh has stressed upon the police personnel to equip themselves with the more professional skills to achieve better successes in fight against crime and militancy. He has impressed upon police that they should be people friendly but tough against criminals.

This was stated by the DGP while addressing policemen atDistrict Police Lines Rajouri and Poonch during his visit to the twin districtstoday. He was accompanied by IGP Vijay Kumar and DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range VivekGupta. The visit was part of the series of his visits to the districts of JammuZone. Earlier DGP visited Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Gool, Mahore, Reasi and Udhampurdistricts of Jammu Zone.

   

The DGP said that role of J&K Police in achievingsuccesses against militancy has been lauded at national level. The contributionof police in conducting one of the most peaceful Lok Sabha elections hasreceived highest appreciation from the state and the Union government which hasboosted morale of the force to work with more commitment and dedication.

The DGP said that drug abuse has become a great challengefor the society and the force is putting in hard work to eliminate the menacefrom the society. He said that drug addiction and abuse is highly harmful tothe society and J&K Police would make all possible efforts to tighten thenoose against all those indulging in the trade and transportation of narcoticsubstances. He said that peddlers should be booked under PSA to curb theirmalpractices and bring them to justice.

District SPs Ramesh Kumar Angral and Yougal Manhas briefedthe DGP about the functioning of police in their respective districts. Theyapprised the DGP about the measures taken to strengthen police and surveillancesystem. Welfare of police personnel, retired personnel and families of martyrsis also being addressed at district level, the DGP was informed.

Gazetted officers and other jurisdictional officers werepresent in the darbars.
