BJP delegation, Vijay Dhar, Justice Kohli call on Governor

A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and members of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board called on Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj bhavan here on Saturday, an official spokesman said.

He said the BJP leaders led by their state president Ravinder Raina and comprising Sunil Sharma and Ashok Koul met the Governor  and welcomed decision taken by the state administrative Council in Friday’s meeting to conduct elections to urban local bodies and panchayats in the month of October-December this year.  The delegation members described it as a step towards empowerment of people at grass root level.

   

The delegation raised with Governor issues relating to a significant number of roads, bridges and other development works. They apprised Governor about various issues relating to Kashmiri migrants, their rehabilitation, provision of basic amenities in their migrant camps in Jammu and elsewhere; and protection of their properties and temples from encroachments in the Valley, the spokesman said.

The Governor Malik, according to the spokesman, assured the delegation that the execution of the development activities in the state will be closely monitored to ensure completion within envisaged timelines. He observed that he would himself visit Kashmiri Migrant’s camps in Jammu and elsewhere to take stock of their problems and urged them to work towards bringing peace and prosperity in the state.

VIJAY DHAR 

Vijay Dhar, member Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), met Governor Satya Pal Malik, chairman of the Board, at the Raj Bhavan here on Saturday and extended his warm greetings to him on his appointment as Governor of the State.

Dhar briefed the Governor about the Shrine Board’s efforts in making annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath  cave more comfortable and safe and offered various suggestions to further improve facilities for yatris.

The Governor and Dhar discussed steps required to be taken to promote interests of youth in sports and extracurricular activities.

The Governor emphasized high importance of providing ample opportunities to youth to hone their talents in extra mural activities for their holistic development. He urged Dhar, who is pro-vice chairman of D.P. Dhar  Memorial Trust to organize national level competitions in order to provide platform to youth for participating in world class level arts and sports competitions.

JUSTICE (RETD) PERMOD KOHLI

Justice (Retd.) Permod Kohli, member, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, called on Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan today and extended his warm greetings to him on his appointment as Governor of the state.

Besides briefing  the Governor about the functioning of the Shrine Board and its various ongoing projects for facilitation of Yatris, Justice Kohli apprised Governor about certain legal issues relating to the management of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
