BJP MPs, ex-legislators donate to PMs Relief Fund

The J&K unit of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has decided to donate to Prime Ministers Relief Fund to help in the fight coronavirus.

A BJP leader said ex-legislators will donate Rs 50,000 eachwhile the party MPs will donate one month salary.

She tweeted pictures of cheques donated by the BJP Presidentfor J&K, Ravinder Raina and other senior party leaders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced creationof an assistance and emergency situation relief fund where people cancontribute and help in the government’s fight against coronavirus.

“People from all walks of life expressed their desire todonate to India’s war against COVID -19,” the PM tweeted, adding the fund hasbeen constituted respecting that spirit.

On March 25, PM Modi declared a 21-day nationwide lockdownstarting midnight, saying it was the only way of containing the coronavirusinfection.

Days before Modi’s announcement the authoirities in Jammuand Kashmir had already announced a lockdown. “Social distancing is the onlyway to break the cycle of infection,” the PM had said.
