BJP, Sangh Parivar trying to disturb communal harmony in Jammu: MLA Langate

Condemns assault on Muslim students in MAM College

AIP Supremo and MLA Langate, Er. Rasheed has strongly condemned what he termed as “hooliganism” by the activists of ABVP in MAM College Jammu.

In a statement  Rasheed said that “time and again it has been proved that the state machinery is being controlled by Right Wing forces who are trying everything to disturb the communal harmony in Jammu province at behest of BJP and Sangh Parivar.”

“It is shameful that the members of ABVP objected to a song in a bus and after the issue was sought out by the college management, the goons went to the hostels and attacked the Muslim students late in the night. As if it was not enough, police at the direction of BJP and RSS leaders raided the hostel and arrested seven Muslim students. The incident needs to be seen in continuation to what had happened in Ramjas College New Delhi, where goons of the same ABVP had manhandled noted student leaders Shehla Rashid and Umer Khalid,” he said.

“Muslims seem to be unsafe everywhere in India and the way three Sopore youth were arrested by Delhi Police is condemnable. Double standards of Indian state stand badly exposed as when students protest in Kashmir they get bullets, pellets and lockups. But when goons attack saner voices at Ramjas College, three policemen get suspended for none of their fault only to appease to right wing forces. Similarly rather taking the ABVP goons to task for entering the hostel premises during night hours in MAM College Jammu, police was forced to beat, humiliate and arrest seven Muslim students,” he said.

“Both the incidents in Ramjas College and MAM college are ample proof to prove that the ill-designs of Sangh Parivar against Muslim community have taken an ugly turn”,” he said.
