Bodies of two hunters buried under snow avalanche in Lolab recovered

The bodies of two hunters buried under an avalanche in the forests of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district yesterday were recovered on Thursday.

The bodies of Muhammad Younis and Mamdin Hajam were recovered by a rescue team of the army’s 18 Rashtriya Rifles and the state police.

“Bodies have been seen and are being recovered,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kupwara Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar was quoted as having said by GNS.

Three persons, including two brothers, were swept away by an avalanche yesterday in Rang Warnow forests of Lolab.

While one of them managed to move to safety, the other two were buried under the avalanche.

In March last year, a snow avalanche hit Dardpora area of Lolab in which three persons died. Their bodies were recovered after six days. The trio had also gone to the forests for hunting, but an avalanche swept them at Lashkote – the top forest area of Dardpora Lolab.
