Body of drowned man fished out from Wullar after 9 days

The body of 42-year-old man who had drowned in a river here last week was retrieved from Wullar Lake on Thursday.

The deceased, Hussain Ahmad Khatana from Tanghat village, who was herding a flock of sheep and cattle in Zalwan area had suddenly gone missing on last Wednesday (September 2), as per his family members.

   

His clothes were found at the bank of Madhumati river, at some distance from his a tent where he was living with his family for over a month. The nine-day search operation in which SDRF, police, Navy and local fishermen participated came to an abrupt end when the body was seen floating in Wular near Laharwalpora, by a group of fishermen this morning.

The body after being retrieved was taken to the hospital by police for medico-legal formalities before handing him over to the family.
