BOSE orders home-based evaluation of answer scripts

Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has ordered home based evaluation of the left out answer scripts of class 10 and 12 in summer zones, instead of routine table evaluation, as one time exception, in view of COVID19 lockdown.

An order issued by secretary Board said the table evaluationof the answers scripts started from February 29 and March 1 respectively.However, it was suspended due to the complete lockdown imposed in the wake ofthe COVID19 pandemic.

   

“The home based evaluation will be allowed after adoptingadequate mechanism to ensure safety, security and confidentiality of the answersheets for which the joint secretary secrecy shall work out all requiredmodalities,” reads the order.

A meeting in this regard was convened last week by JKBOSEwherein it was decided that allowing more than hundred evaluators to attendevaluation centres at BOSE campus Rehari Colony Jammu was not advisable amidthe prevailing situation.

“It is also not possible to resume the table evaluationprocess in the normal course and there is a strong perception that the delayedresults may lead to chaotic situation and cause disturbance in the academiccalendar,” the order reads, adding that the consensus emerged in the meeting togo for home evaluation to tide over the situation and ensure the completion ofevaluation process without any delay.

As per the order, the head examiners and checking assistantswill work from board campus as per table evaluation norms. Also, there will beno practical exam for class 10th students of summer zone Jammu.

“The proportionate marks in the practical examination ofclass 10th 2020/annual regular summer zone shall be awarded to the examineescorresponding to the marks scored by them in the science theory subject,” theorder reads.

It further reads that appropriate decision about thenon-conduct of examination in some theory papers of class 12th annual-regular2020 in summer zone, Jammu shall be taken after the completion of evaluation ofall those papers which have already been conducted and reviewing the situationat that time.

“However all other norms of evaluation as envisaged in therelevant regulations shall be applicable,” it reads.
