A teenage boy was found dead at his relatives’ residence in Trehgam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said on Wednesday.
A police official said, “We received a phone call informing that a boy had died during night at his relatives’ residence. A team was deputed to the house and the body recovered, which was sent for the post-mortem.”
The deceased was identified as Zaheer Ahmad Khan (18) son of Shukoor Khan of Sulaiman village, Karnah division.
The police official said the boy had visited Kupwara town and stayed at his relatives’ house in Trehgam.
“In the morning when he was called many times to wake up by the relatives, he did not answer as the boy had already died,” the police officer quoting the relatives said.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered under 174 Cr PC at police station Trehgam and investigation taken up.
“After the medico-legal formalities the body was handed over to the family for last rites,” he said.
