The JRL comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and incarcerated JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, strongly condemned the alleged rape of a minor girl in Bandipora district.
In a statement here the JRL termed the incident as shocking,unfortunate, gruesome and inhuman act. “This incident is a stain on the social,spiritual fabric and rich culture of Kashmir. The culprit of this immoral actneeds to be awarded an exemplary punishment.”
“The incident has not only left the conscience of every Kashmiribadly shaken but brought every head down in shame,” the statement stated.
The JRL said, “This shameful and heart-breaking incident haspierced through our hearts and minds and left all of us shocked, some peoplemight take advantage and try to divide us in the name of sects and tribes. Theaffected kid belongs to all of us and we all share the pain and agony of herfamily and stand firmly behind them. We all want the culprit to be brought tojustice” the JRL added.
The JRL urged and stressed people across all sections tomaintain unity and brotherhood on all fronts and exhibit patience anddiscipline.
