BSF man dies as India, Pak trade gunfire along Kashmir border

A Border Security Force (BSF) was killed in the ongoing exchange of gunfire between the Indian and Pakistani forces in Nowgam sector of Jammu and Kashmir late Sunday evening, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Abhijeet Nandi of 119 Bn.

"The trooper was manning KB Post which came under heavy gunfire from Pakistan army. He died on the spot,” official sources said.

Superintendent of police, Handwara while confirming the death of the trooper said that exchange of gunfire in the forward posts of LoC has stopped for now.
