Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday identified the militants who were killed during a gun battle with the security forces on Friday morning in Adkhara village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The slain militants were identified as Tariq Ahmed Sheikh of Chitragam, Shopian; Shariq Ahmad Nengroo of Chotigam, Imam Sahib of Shopian and Muhammad Lateef Dar of Dogripora village of Pulwama district.
The police official said that the slain were affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit.
He said that their bodies have been handed over to their families after completion of all legal formalities.
Muhammad Lateef Dar alias Lateef Tiger was a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander and a close associate of the slain Hizb commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
‘Tiger’ was a part of ‘Burhan brigade’ whose joint picture had gone viral on the social media platforms.
Shopian and Pulwama districts will vote on May 6 in the third and final phase of the three-phased polling in Anantnag Lok Sabha seat. (With inputs from IANS)
