Capacity building workshop on safer schools begins at KU

University of Kashmir’s Department of Geography & Regional Development organised a week long Capacity Building Workshop on ‘Safer Schools’ which started here at KU on Monday.

The workshop has been organised in collaboration with Jhelum& Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP), Government of Jammu & Kashmirand Institute of Disaster Risk Reduction (IDRR), University College London(UC)L.

   

The inaugural function was presided over by Prof NiloferKhan, officiating Vice Chancellor KU in presence of Prof. Peter Sammonds,Director, IDRR, UCL, London, Iftikhar Ahmad Hakeem, Director, Planning &Coordination, JTFRP and Prof M Sultan Bhat, Dean School of Earth & EnvironmentalSciences.

The focus of the workshop is the capacity building of theconcerned stakeholders so as to prepare a pool of the skilled trainers for theschools at the grassroots level.

The programme was attended by senior faculty members of theuniversity as well as the participants of the workshop which included primaryschool teachers from Directorate of School Education, J&K Government.
