Case be tried by fast-track court: NC

Shameema Firdous, State President, National Conference Women Wing, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.

Firdous expressed concern over the alleged rape of a minorgirl in Bandipora and submitted a representation to the Governor urging himthat the case be tried by a fast-track court, an official handout said.

   

The Governor assured Firdous that every possible actionwould be taken to provide justice to the victim, it said.

Meanwhile, the NC in a statement said that Shameema Firdousin the memorandum/representation presented to Governor decried the acts ofmolestation and other brutalities against women.

“I am writing to you at a time when we all are writhing inagony due to the heinous act of rape that was committed on a minor girl inBandipora. The outrage it has generated within all sections of the societyproves that no Kashmiri will tolerate such crimes. We stand in solidarity withthe little girl and her family in this hour of extreme pain. We expect that thecase is taken to its logical end on fast track basis and the guilty ispunished.” the memorandum reads.

Party’s provincial president Sabiya Qadri also accompaniedthe Shameema Firdous to Raj Bhawan.

Meanwhile political advisor to vice president Tanvir Sadiqhas urged the people to uphold the age-old tradition of camaraderie and notfall prey to the malicious propaganda that is aimed to divide the society.

Prominent JKNC Minority wing leader Jagdish Singh Azad hascondemned the incident and demanded a fast track investigation into it.

Party’s district president Ganderbal and former MLA SheikhIshfaq Jabbar has condemned the incident and said the act has shamed the wholehumanity and human values.
