Clashes erupted in Murran area of southern Pulwama district on Sunday after forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO).
Sources said that youth took to streets and clashed with thesecurity forces after the CASO was launched in Sheikhpura Murran Sunday lateafternoon.
“A group of locals resorted to stone pelting to disruptthe CASO. However, the forces responded by teargas shells to disperse theprotesting youth.” said a local.
Jammu & Kashmir police, Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) andCentral Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had jointly launched the operation.
An official said the search operation was launched afterspecific inputs about the presence of militants there.
