Government forces on Thursday evening launched a cordon andsearch operation (CASO) in Babagund village of Langate in north Kashmir’sKupwara district.
A police official said that after a specific input about thepresence of militants in the Babagund village, a joint team of the Army’s 22RR,the special operation group of police and the central reserve police personnelcordoned off the area.
“The forces laid siege of the village around 6 in evening,”a police official said.
He said the forces personnel were conducting door to doorsearch. “However, no contact was established with the militants,” he said.
The operation was underway when this report was filed.
