CBSE affiliated schools asked to light a candle, torch during evening at home to fight COVID-19

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) hasasked the students and staff of its affiliated schools to light acandle, Diya or torch of their cellphones today evening aspart of the continuous efforts to contain the spread of Novel Coronavirus(COVID-19).

The direction comes two days after Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modiin his address to the nation asked people to switch off their electricity andlight a candle, diya or torch of their cellphones for nineminutes at 9pm on April 05 to contain the epidemic.

   

“Students, teachers, other staff of the school and their family membersmay light a candle, diya or torch of their mobile for nine minutes at 9 PM on 5April,2020 at their houses to realise the power of light and to highlight theobjective for which the whole nation is fighting together,” director academicsCBSE, in his letter to all CBSE schools has said.

“Please note that no one should assemble in colonies or road or anywhereoutside,” it reads.

The director academic CBSE has further asked the principals of CBSEaffiliated schools to inform teachers of their schools regardingthis.

“Similarly all principals and teachers will ensure that all students ofthe schools are informed in this regard as well,” the letter reads.

The director academics CBSE has further stated that the various effortshave been taken by Government of India to contain the spread of COVI0-19.

CBSE has developed AROGYA SETU application to fightagainst COVIO-19 which is useful for students, parents, teachers and otherstaff including their family members.

“The application is available for Android as well i-phone users,” theletter reads.’

As per the letter, ministry of AYUSH has developed a protocol for immunityboosting measures for self-care of kids.

“The brochure of the same is enclosed with letter for the use of students,teachers, other staff and their family members. It may be shared with them asdownloadable e-format,” the letter reads.

The schools have been asked to communicate and explain the content to thestudents through the available channels of communication.
