CCIK seeks improvement in Wakf Board functioning

The President of Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries-Kashmir (CCIK), Gh. Mohi-ud-dn Khan, has expressed his concern on the functioning of J&K Wakf Board.

“The people at the helm of affairs there may not befunctioning on the expected lines,” Gh. Mohi-ud-din Khan said, seekinggovernment intervention in the working of the body.

   

The President said that the State Government should ask forsome accountability from the Board as its working has become bad.

Established in 1940 as Muslim Auqaf Trust with an objectiveto help the needy and downtrodden sections of Muslims in the State, laterrechristened as JK Wakf Board, there has hardly been any visible change in itsworking.

“The unprofessional attitude of the Board towards tradersand business federations has also contributed towards its unpleasantfunctioning,” Khan said while expressing his disappointment.

He also said that the board should take a cue from variousother religious organizations operating and functioning in J&K, which byprudent use of their resources have been able to create a good social sectorinfrastructure base.

The President appealed to the authorities to take correctivesteps for its rejuvenation.
