Centre committed to development of J&K: Union Minister

The Centre is committed to development of J&K and the results of recently announced financial package for the Union Territory will start yielding result in next six months, said a Union Minister here on Saturday.

“I assure you that the Rs6,000 crore package that has been announced by government of India for Jammuand Kashmir will take development to the grassroots level and its results willbe evident after six months,” said the Minister of Shipping, Chemicals andFertilizers, Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya.

   

He was speaking to media at a function here organised tocelebrate Jan Aushadhi Diwas. The Minister said the UT will soon see a “newchapter” of peace, progress and development.

“The scheme (Jan Aushadhi Diwas) since its inception hasbeen a great relief to the patients from economically weaker sections of thesociety as it saves their basic income,” he said.

Urging people to avail benefits of the scheme, he said itwas aimed to provide affordable medicine and sustainable source of employment.He said lakhs of people were getting benefited from Jan Aushadhi Kendra allacross the country on daily basis.

He made an appeal to youthof Pulwama to come forward to start their own Jan Aushadhi Kendras and becomeself-reliant. The Minister ensured ample stocking of Jan Aushadhi medicine.

He was accompanied by IG,Kashmir, Vijay Kumar; DIG South, Atul Kumar; Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama,Raghav Langer; Director Health Services, Dr Sameer Mattoo; State DrugController, Lotika Khujaria; SP Pulwama, Ashish Mishra and other senior civil,police officers and other officials.

On the occasion, the Minister distributed baby kits amongthe mothers under Beti Bacho Beti Padhao scheme and sanitary kits (Suvidha)among adolescent girls. He also felicitated the newly recruited staff nursesunder NHM/DNB courses.
