Charred body of local soldier found in Kupwara army camp

The charred body of an army soldier was found in 175-Territorial Army regiment camp at Panzgam in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday, police said.

A police official said they received a call from the TAregiment that one personnel has died in a suspicious manner in the army camp.

   

A police team rushed to the spot and recovered the charredbody from the army unit which was taken to sub-district hospital Kupwara forpost-mortem. “A case has been registered in this regard at police stationKralpora and investigation has been started into the incident,” said the policeofficial.

A police official identified the deceased army man as31-year-old Mushtaq Ahmad Pir (Belt number 32009) son of Mohammad Yaseen Pir ofMaidan Chowgul, Handwara.

“The cause of his death will be revealed after properinvestigation of the case,” said the official adding, the body was handed tohis legal heirs for the last rites.

Hundreds of locals joined the last rites of Mushtaq Ahmad inhis native village. Locals descended to his home when the news spread in thearea that he was found dead. “We don’t understand how this happened,” said alocal resident, Rafiq Ahmad.

Mushtaq is survived by his wife whom he married in Novemberlast year, two brothers and parents. He was the sole bread earner for hisfamily.
