Civilian killing: Kangan shuts on 2nd consecutive day

A complete shutdown was observed on the second consecutive day on Monday in Kangan area of Ganderbal district against the killing of 22-year-old local youth Amir Hamid Lone of Chatergul village.

All shops and business establishments remained closed in the Kangan market. Students of boys, girls’ high schools and degree colleges of Kangan and Ganderbal towns did not turn up to their respective schools as authorities had ordered suspension of their class work on Monday to prevent protests.

   

Lone, a second year student of degree college Ganderbal, was critically injured in clashes between government forces and protesters in Kangan on April 03. He succumbed to his injuries two weeks later at SKIMS, Srinagar.

Protests and clashes with government forces also erupted in Kangan on Monday against the killing of another youth, Gowhar Ahmad Rather of Jamia market Kangan.
